Empowering Students through Engineering Design
Nick (aka TheNerdyTeacher) has previously won ISTE teacher of the year and will be doing a session on engineering design approaches and the transferrable skills these lessons can foster. His session will be grounded in an inquiry-driven science approach showing how teachers can bring these theoretical concepts to life in the classroom using BPS and our engineering projects.
Literacy Launchpad: 5 Ways to Jumpstart a Strong Foundation for the Entire School Year!
Join Monica Burns, author of EdTech Essentials for a session on how to prepare for a successful, literacy-rich school year with BrainPOP! We'll explore practical strategies to kick-start your school year with a strong focus on integrating literacy across the curriculum. Tap into ready-to-use resources to save time while you get to get to know your students, assess learning, and set goals for the rest of the school year.
Certified BrainPOP Educator (CBE) Sessions
Cracking the Code on Engagement with BrainPOP Creative Coding by Rebecca Gratz
Technology is rapidly evolving, and it is our job, as educators, to prepare our students for the future that hasn’t yet been created. Engaging our students in computer science related tasks can feel intimidating, but with BrainPOP Creative Coding anyone can expand their student’s skills in coding and computational thinking. Join CBE, Becca Gratz, to learn about how you can bring computer science into your classroom to both build and increase knowledge through BrainPOP Creative Coding as young as kindergarten!
Deepening Work Knowledge to Improve Literacy with BrainPOP by Jessie Erickson
Learning and deepening word knowledge doesn’t have to feel like work. By using BrainPOP's Games, Features, Make-a-Map, Creative Coding, and Make-a-Movie, students can be more engaged as they learn and play with language. Through back-and-forth, interactive play, students can also clarify misunderstandings and help them develop Vocabulary and Morphology knowledge.
Cross-Curricular Writing by Mason Nichols
Participants will learn how to save time by incorporating writing in cross-curricular subjects using a variety of BrainPOP features.
Giving Students Ownership of Learning by Lynda Last
Learn how to incorporate moving-making into your lessons to give students the opportunity to put themselves in the shoes of the teacher and collaborate with their peers.
Accessible Ways for Students to Show What They Know by Michelle Manning
Establishing Classroom Community by Creating Space for Student Expression by Jessie Erickson
From a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) point of view, the most important consideration at the start of the new school year is to create positive feelings, classroom community, and optimism about school. This has many practical implications for teachers as they set the stage for creating a classroom community that supports learners academically as well as socially and emotionally. This session will focus on using BrainPOP's creative tools with topic movies as avenues to build a strong classroom community filled with learners that feel emotionally safe and ready to learn.
↑↑↓↓←→←→ BrainPOP, Start GameUp by Sean Arnold
All of our initial learning experiences as children began with exploration and play. We accept that idea for our kindergarten students and a lifelong kindergarten environment is the process for innovative engineers at MIT. So why do we shy away from playful learning in between? We will explore the power of playful learning and how BrainPOP has built it into their lesson framework. And beyond BrainPOP’s games, we will see how it is a valuable curation space for games across other platforms too.
